City Seal £46.3m Deal for AC Milan Midfield Dynamo Tijjani Reijnders
Manchester City have struck a £46.3 million (€55m) agreement with AC Milan for the signing of Dutch midfield star Tijjani Reijnders.
Manchester City have struck a £46.3 million (€55m) agreement with AC Milan for the signing of Dutch midfield star Tijjani Reijnders, with the Netherlands international set to undergo a medical at the Etihad on Sunday ahead of finalising a five-year deal.
The 25-year-old, who lit up Serie A last season with the most combined goals and assists of any midfielder in the division, is the latest elite-level addition to Pep Guardiola’s evolving squad as City aim to bounce back from a disappointing last campaign.
Reijnders confirmed his impending arrival in Manchester following the Netherlands' 2-0 World Cup qualifying win over Finland, telling reporters: “I’m flying to Manchester in the morning and then I’ll be back in Zeist in the evening.” Dutch national team boss Ronald Koeman later reinforced the news, stating that the City-bound midfielder had been granted permission to complete his medical while on international duty.
Technically gifted and tactically intelligent, Reijnders’ arrival is seen as a major coup for City. The former AZ Alkmaar man was a standout performer in Serie A last term, not only contributing directly to more goals than any other central midfielder but also proving himself a consistent tempo-setter and creative force in Milan’s engine room.
